Nova Scotia Medical Centre is based in a former mining village. The practice has a list size of approximately 5300 patients. There are 3 GP Partners in the practice. We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.
Dr Khan is our senior partner and has been with the practice since 2001, he has a special interest in Minor Surgery.
Dr Kapoor joined us in 2007 and has a keen interest in Diabetes management.
Dr Pierechod has been with the practice for over 30 years and has recently reduced his working hours.
Dr Nunn is a lady locum who does regular sessions for us twice a week, she has a special interest in female and child health.
The practice uses the EMIS computer system. We use the Choose & Book system to refer patients to Hospital; this means that all patients have a greater choice over where they are seen for further care.
The catchment area for the practice is Allerton Bywater, Kippax, Swillington and Great Preston. If you would like to register with us, please ask at reception to check if your address is within our catchment area.
